Last time I checked in was there's still work being done on XBOX emulators but not a lot on PS3 ones though. It makes a world of difference.ДЄ CFW PS3 does load larger arcade games like Neo-Geo & CPS3 without much problem and better emulation for some games but the reverse can be said as well for the XBOX too.

You can expand on the compatablity by adding an additional 64MB of RAM and using emulators that take advantage of the additional memory. A Modded XBOX covers the majority of what you want. Wii emulators can pull that off and quite well with the WiiMote as a replacement for the Zapper & Super Scope.ДЄ PS3 with CFW or a Modded XBOX can cover whatever else a Wii or Wii U can't handle for the most part. They still need to iterate on what they did for Duck Hunt and do it for other Zapper games and hopefully move to the Super Scope for games like Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge. Seriously though it depends on what you're looking for.ДЇrom what I've seen the WiiU for what it offers you does the job very well including their recent DS additions. When the Wii or Wii U can play Virtua Cop 3 then let me know. I will probably still buy the XBox for the handful of XBox games I never played and can't get elsewhere, but I thought I'd ask about this aspect too.

Does one have a better N64 emulator than the other, for example? Obviously installing a hard drive is a plus for the XBox, but I've got plenty of SD cards lying around so storage for the Wii U stuff isn't really a problem. Is there anything the original XBox does better than the Wii U, as an emulation/homebrew machine? Media center/streaming functionality doesn't really matter to me-I'm talking strictly gaming-related stuff. It seems like there's a lot that can be done there, too, so I thought I would ask: However, I've already got a Wii U, and the vWii is softmodded, though I haven't done too much with it yet (mostly just did it for GameCube game functionality with the controller adapter I got with Smash Bros.). The one I can buy is untouched, so it'd be a project for me if I decided to go that route.

I know the system was super appealing for modders back in the day and has quite a few emulators and other homebrew features that seem really neat. I've got an opportunity to purchase an XBox for fairly cheap. Emulation in general seems to be a mostly acceptable topic for discussion here, barring of course the more legally murky aspects of it, so my apologies and lock if inappropriate.
